Village Pond Refurbishment
Over the past few years the Parish Council have noticed that the pond has been losing water at a quicker rate than would have been expected.
The pond in it’s current form has been in place since the 1980’s, at that time a new liner was added to the pond to enable it to hold water, even in dryer times. The pond is topped up by water collected in the gullies around the green and is fed through a petrol interceptor tank before being released into the pond. The pond can also be fed by the river if it is higher than the weir or we have a pump that can be used to top up in dryer months.
When the pond water is high it flows over the weir into the River Misbourne.
The Council has raised funds to clean out the pond and replace the breached liner. There will also be some planting around the edges of the pond to help with softening the edges and to be more encouraging to wildlife.
The works should begin on Monday 25 September 2023 and are planned to last for four weeks, however this is weather dependent.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work in the village centre.
