Training and Development

Chalfont St Giles Parish Council has a strong commitment to the training and development of its Councillors and Staff in order to assist the Council in achieving its aims, objectives, priorities and vision, as well as ensuring Council is kept up to date with all new legislation. To support this, funds are allocated to a training budget annually to enable staff and Councillors to attend training and conferences relevant to their office. Prospective Councillors and staff are made aware of the content of the Training and Development Policy.

In 2023-2024 the training budget for the Council is £1500.

Each new Councillors is given ‘New Councillor’ training and the staff are given training to ensure that they are knowledgeable about their role and aware of health and safety in the work place.

The Clerk, is qualified with the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) and because more than two thirds of the Councillors are elected, the General Power of Competence has been adopted. The Clerk is a principal member of the SLCC and achieved 13.5 Continuous Professional Development points in the 2022-2023 period. Continuous Professional Development
