Moved to the village in 1947, and educated locally. Spent nine years in the Royal Navy; on leaving, I then worked for an American scientific/research company as a field engineer which involved my travelling to work in Europe and Russia. I am married with two grown up daughters, both of whom attended local schools. Prior to joining the Parish Council in 1983, my wife and I ran the Newsagents at Three Households, which we brought into the village centre in 1983, we retired in 2010. I have been Chairman of the Parish Council for four years, and at present am Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Open Spaces & Amenities Committee; also during this time I have been a school governor for 20 years, and at present sit on various committees and also as a trustee of the Fawsett village charity. I am also Chairman of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
