Pollarded Tree

An arboricultural survey of the trees around the village pond was carried out on behalf of the Parish Council. The survey recommended pollarding of four trees around the pond area including the large willow at the north end of the pond. These works are to improve the health of the trees.

Pollarding is a method of pruning which promotes growth of a dense head of foliage. It also prevents the trees from outgrowing their local environment. This method of pruning has a dramatic effect on the appearance of the tree.

These trees have been pollarded before and the works will pollard the trees to their previous pollarding points. Below is a picture of the willow at the north end of the pond after a previous pollarding session.

Whilst this work will dramatically alter the appearance of the trees, they will grow back and remain healthy as a result of the work.

The works are scheduled to take place on 13 and 14 March 2023.

For your own safety, and the safety of our contractors, please avoid the pond area whist these works are being carried out.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
