We need a school crossing patroller – could it be you?

On Friday 19 November 2021, Chairman of the Parish Council, Gordon Patrick, was presented with the British Empire Medal (BEM) by The Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Countess Howe.
Gordon was recognised for his service to the community in Chalfont St Giles.
In the ceremony, which was presided over by the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire George Anson, Gordon’s service to the community was outlined. It included:
- Over 37 years of service to the Parish Council where he is currently chairman.
- Being a trustee for the Fawsett Trust who provide financial support for the elderly at Christmas.
- Being a trustee for Chalfont St Giles Educational Foundation who provide educational grants to children resident in Chalfont St Giles to assist them with entry into a profession, trade or calling.
- Co-ordination of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Sunday event.
Having run the Olde Post House on the High Street for many years, Gordon was, and remains the font of knowledge about Chalfont St Giles and those that know him will not be at all surprised to see that he has been bestowed such a prestigious award.
