The Conservation Volunteers run a 'Green Gym' in CSG

In 2018, Chalfont St Giles Parish Council were approached by ‘The Conservation Volunteers’ who wanted to start a Green Gym in the parish and surrounding areas. Green Gyms are fun and free outdoor sessions where you will be guided in practical activities such as planting trees, sowing meadows and restoring habitats.

Following discussions and meetings, two areas were approved as areas that could benefit from their work, Riverside Walk and The Dell at the recreation ground off Bowstridge Lane.

The Parish Council are currently liaising with the Environment Agency, Misbourne River Action Group and The Chilterns Chalk Streams Project Officer to ensure that any works carried out in the area will enhance the river for wildlife and plants.

The Green Gym was due to begin in 2020, however due to the pandemic, those plans were put on hold.

The promising news from the Government and the roadmap to lockdown easing means that we are once again making plans.to begin activities. Please watch this space for dates and times when activities can begin again.

If you think that you might be interested in getting involved in this project, you can find more information on what a Green Gym is by going to The Conservation Volunteers website https://www.tcv.org.uk/greengym/
