Affordable Warmth

Many of us may find it difficult to pay our energy bills, particularly over the winter period. Often this is because we are on limited income, we waste some of the energy we use or because our homes need a lot of energy to warm up.

Chiltern District Council supports a dedicated Affordable Warmth service to advise residents how to keep warm over winter whilst keeping their bills down.  Anyone who is struggling to heat their home or meet the spiraling cost of domestic fuel can call the helpline on 0800 107 0044 for free and impartial advice on:

  • Top tips for keeping warm
  • The latest grants and loans for home improvements
  • Loft and wall insulation
  • Switching to a lower cost energy supplier
  • How to deal with unpaid fuel bills
  • Claiming the benefits you are entitled to
  • Support organisations within the area
  • Energy efficiency to keep bills down

You will be sent a follow-up booklet packed full of information to help you in the future, and you can request a thermometer card, so you know how warm (or cold!) your house really is.
